On 7th October 2018, the much-awaited track and field action commenced in the city of Vadodara. The environment was buzzing with excitement as the city marked the beginning of its RFYS campaign. Being a debutant city, the expectations from Vadodara were high and the athletes didn’t disappoint with their enthusiastic participation.

The first day of the meet witnessed the 100m race, Long Jump, Shot Put events across various categories. One of the most prominent results of the day was when Ayan Shaikh from Faculty of Arts – MSU, clocked 11.87 seconds in the College Boys 100m race and clinched the Gold in a fantastic manner. In Long Jump, Ronak Parekh’s leap of 6.01m earned him a gold in the College Boys category. Check out the entire list of results from the three-day athletics meet at Athletics Results.

On the final day, the winners of the best athletes and best institutes were announced as Sardar Patel Educational Institute and Zenith School Eng. Medium stood out. Sardar Patel Educational Institute was the best institute in the Sub Junior Boys and Junior Boys category whereas Zenith School End Medium won it in the Senior Boys and Senior Girls category.

When it came to the best athletes’ awards, Tushar Lalotra, representing Vibgyor High International School in the Senior Boys category and Upendra Solanki representing HK Arts College in the College Boys category went home with 834 and 824 points respectively. Overall, the athletes from Vadodara looked promising and seem ready to tussle it out at the National Championship where they are bound to face stiff competition from other athletes.
