RFYS was launched with a goal of encouraging a sporting culture in schools and colleges and to enable India’s next champions. Over 70,000 athletes registered for RFYS last year and this year we are back with a few surprises.

Athletics turned out to be a huge success in its inaugural season. RFYS is going one step further this year by reaching out to 7 new centers – Vadodara, Thiruvananthapuram, Bhubaneswar, Guwahati, Rohtak and Lucknow. Athletics action in Punjab will shift from Chandigarh to Ludhiana. Along with the addition of new centers, RFYS will also welcome young athletes from the Sub Junior category (class 7th and 8th) to compete for the ultimate prize. On the discipline front, Shot Put will make its debut this season and will be categorized under field event.

Athletes participating in the Sub Junior categories will battle it out in 600m event instead of 800m. 1500m and 5000m will make way for 2000m in the Junior categories. 4*100 and 4*400 meters relays were the most popular event last year and both these events have been retained without any changes. All athlete participating can pick a maximum of two individual track events and one field event or maximum one individual track event and two field events, excluding relays.
