A historic moment in Indian Athletics

Reliance Foundation Youth Sports (RFYS) began its much-awaited journey in athletics in the city of Hyderabad on 4th December.

Gachibowli Stadium, Hyderabad, became a part of history by hosting the first ever RFYS athletics event in the country. The event witnessed a spectacle as athletes from all over the city thronged the venue to prove their mettle. There was talent in abundance, as shown by Gopi Krishna, as his fantastic jump bagged him the Gold Medal in the Junior Boys High Jump event.

The next day, S.K. Amjad put in an impressive run to bring great laurels to his school Telangana Sports School by finishing on top of the podium in the 400m finals. If this was not enough for Telangana Sports School, another medal came their way. This time it was a brilliant run by Y. Harikrishna, to clinch Gold in the Senior Boys 100m finals.

Hyderabad marked off a great start for RFYS Athletics and paved the way for other cities like Delhi and Bengaluru to try and recognize the best emerging young talents of the country.
