Athletics National Championship gets off in style!

Reliance Foundation Youth Sports (RFYS) began the inaugural Athletics National Championship in Mumbai as athletes from all around the country competed in the finals of numerous track and field events.

The day began in the 1500m Junior Boys final where the City Champions representing their institutes fought for the ultimate prize. Other track and field events also concluded on the first day, the College Boys Triple Jump, the 400m Junior Girls final, College Girls 1500m finals, to name a few.

Afsal NS from St. Berchman’s College bagged the Gold Medal in the 400m College Boys final with a time of 49.5 seconds. Sashi Singh, representing Charuchandra College, embraced the occasion and clinched Gold once again in the 1500m College Boys final. With an impressive finish in 4 minutes and 14 seconds, he was the standout athlete of the day.

In the Senior Girls 1500m final, it was Anumol Thampi who left her competitors behind and went home with the Gold Medal with a timing of 5 minutes and 1 second. As one of the biggest athletics meet in the country wrapped up all the action on day-1, RFYS returns tomorrow for the final day of the National Championship in Mumbai.
