RFYS comes to a close in Lucknow
This year’s RFYS Athletics tournament started with the debutant city Lucknow, along with Chennai, on 4th September. With the new city in the tournament, there was also a new event of 600m for Sub-Junior boys and girls being introduced in the tournament.

The energy and enthusiasm at Vahini PAC Ground, Lucknow was such that the young athletes knew it was their chance to prove their worth.
Guru Gobind Singh Sports College and Nari Shiksha Niketan Inter College were the two colleges from Lucknow whose students stood out with their mesmerizing performances. According to the points calculated based on the performance of athletes and institutes, the best athlete and the best institute were adjudged for each age category. Nitin Pal from Guru Gobind Singh Sports College bagged the position of the best athlete in Sub-Junior category, while Prachi Ahlawat from Nari Shiksha Niketan Inter College was best among Sub Junior Girls category. Sweety Verma and Pooja Rani from the same institute claimed the top honours in Junior Girls and Senior Girls category respectively.
The City of Nawabs also surprised everyone with its talent at this stage of the tournament. Mohd. Akram of Guru Gobind Singh Sports College not only bettered the RFYS record for 100m, but did so by a big margin. He took just 10.77 seconds to leave everyone stunned at the venue. Undoubtedly, he was named the best athlete in Senior Boys category. Rishabh Rishishwar of Ram Niwaz Singh Degree College and Shivani Singh of Chhtrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University were the best athletes in the senior-most category.
The tournament is far from over and Lucknow was just one of the 14 cities where the tournament is going to be conducted. The search for the ultimate champions will provide us with some real gems and these winners from Lucknow will pose a serious challenge to the top contenders from the other cities.
