The games were closely contested, as was anticipated, and penalties were necessary to decide the fate of the teams in the Junior and Senior Boys games.

In the Junior Boys category, Chowbagha High School beat Mohispota Boys High School 5-4 in a penalty shoot-out. The game was very closely contested, with no team giving away an inch of space to the other. The game also got a little heated up, as the referee needed to show the yellow card to two Chowbagha players to bring matters under control. Eventually, it was Chowbagha High School who kept their cool in the shoot-out to be crowned City Champions, after the game ended 0-0 in normal time.

The Senior Boys game was of a similar nature. Kapasdanga Satin Sen Vidyapith and Nirmal Hriday Ashram C.C. High School (Boys) finished the game 1-1 in 90 minutes. Kapasdanga Satin Sen Vidyapith seemed to control the game from the beginning and deservedly got a goal in the 34th minute, but Nirmal Hriday Ashram C.C. High School equalized in the second half, courtesy a well-taken penalty in the 58th minute. As the game went down to the shoot-out, Kapasdanga Satin Sen Vidyapith goalkeeper Sannoy Biswas stepped up to be the hero, stopping two penalties and helping his team to victory, thus giving them their passage to Mumbai.

In the Senior Girls category, Birlapur Vidyalaya was beaten 0-14 by Chaturdash Palli High School. Chaturdash Palli High School girls were unstoppable, scoring as early as the first minute of the game. They went on to score eight first-half goals, and six in the second half, without conceding any, to make their way to the Nationals in Mumbai.

The final game of the day witnessed football played at the Highest level when Charuchandra College beat St. Xavier’s College by five goals to one. Charuchandra College started the game well and scored three goals in the first half. St. Xavier’s tried to get back into the game, scoring a goal as soon as the second half began, but were pegged back again, as Md. Farid completed his hat-trick. Charuchandra College finished the game with five goals, and Md. Farid was adjudged Player of the Game for his efforts, to go along with his Golden Boot and Golden Ball awards, to complete an awards whitewash for an attacker. He would be eager to replicate his exploits at the Nationals.
