The Reliance Foundation Youth Sports is all set to get underway for the 2017 season as registrations are officially open for schools and colleges to partake in India’s largest sporting revolution for the second season.

The inaugural season was a grand success, with over 2,500+ teams registered across various categories in the football tournament. The young athletes made the most of all the facilities provided to them to showcase their talents, which culminated in the National Championship final that took place in Mumbai.

Following the immense response and enthusiasm from around the country for the competition, RFYS has added nine cities to the already existing eight in the football tournament; those are Chandigarh, Shillong, Imphal, Aizawl, Ahmedabad, Jamshedpur, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Kozhikode. Along with new cities, the competition has also expanded to include girls from the 9th and 10th standard to the already existing 11th and 12th standards, newly categorized collectively as School Girls.

The big news for the upcoming season is the much-anticipated foray of the tournament into Athletics. Schools and colleges from the cities of Chandigarh, Delhi, Mumbai, Kochi, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Kolkata will take part in athletics across 11 disciplines; 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 5000m, 4x100m, 4x400m races and long jump, high jump and triple jump. This is in line with RFYS’ commitment to changing the sporting scenario in India from the grassroots level, and judging by the success of the inaugural season, is sure to make a huge impact.
