RFYS West Zone Championships continued in Pune, with some very strong performances on display.

The day began with Anand Niketan School, Shilaj Campus completing a 3-1 victory over Loyola High School & Junior College. Heet Niraj Mehta picked up the Player of the Match award for his brace on the day.

Shree M.P Shah College made light work in their 3-1 victory over Spicer Adventist University in their round-robin clash. A brilliant goal on the rebound secured the victory for them.

Hiramani College put in a dominant performance to emerge 4-1 winners in their Senior Boys clash against St. Vincents High School. Heading into the rounds ahead, they will certainly be the team to look out for. My Own High School showcased their true quality as they overcame The Bishops School with a staggering 5-0 victory. Hetal Ben Thakor picked up the Player of the Match award for her brace.

Semi-finals also took place across various cities. Kochi saw a magnificent second half performance by last year’s champions Nirmala College. The fifth goal by Ajay Alex showcased just how clinical his side were in front of goal, giving the opposition not even a sniff of a chance after the break.

The Junior Boys category in Guwahati saw an entertaining encounter as Arunodoi Academy (AA) completed a stunning comeback after having gone down to an emphatic finish by Delhi Public School, thanks to Yash Narzary. In return, AA scored three goals across the ninety minutes to take the game 3-1.

Day two of RFYS athletics witnessed action in the 200m, 800m, 4x400m, high jump, and long jump disciplines in various categories. R. Gopikrishna was the Junior Boys winner in high jump, clearing 1.54m for TSRS B in Hyderabad. Day three promises to be more thrilling, with 100m, 400m, 1500m, and long jump all in store in the city.
