Kadatham Rajas cruise to National Championship in style

Kochi witnessed the South Zone 1 Championship with teams booking their berths for the Nationals in different categories.

School Girls Kadatham Rajas completed an 11-0 victory over Model Residential School to book their tickets to the National Championship. Anju scored a handful of goals in her teams dominant win. In the Senior Boys category, Govt. HSS Panampilly registered a 6-1 win over MSPHSS Malappuram. The match was evenly staged at halftime with the scores level at 1-1 but the boys from Govt. HSS produced a memorable second-half performance, scoring five goals without reply. Arjun V scored a brilliant hat-trick and was adjudged the player of the match.

MSPHSS Malappuram were up against St. Vincents High School in the Junior Boys game. The first half went scoreless with tight defenses. MSPHSS scored two goals within twelve minutes at the start of the second half and went on to complete a 2-1 victory. The College Boys game between Bascelius College and MES Mampad was another tight affair. Both teams had been unable to find the back of the net and things were even until the 84th minute when MES’s goalkeeper was shown a straight red card. Bascelius College punished MES instantly with Haris curling an impeccable freekick into the far corner to grab a 1-0 win.
