The first day of 2018 saw the conclusion of league games in the Senior Boys and College Boys categories at the RFYS Football National Championship.

High flying Minerva Public School, Chandigarh, opened the day against Sihphir Higher Secondary School in the Senior Boys category. In a simultaneous kick-off Rosary Higher Secondary School, Goa were up against Govt. Higher Secondary School Panampilly. Minerva Public School registered another stunning 6-2 win over Sihphir. Makan Winkle Chothe scored four goals, while the top scorer in the Senior Boys category, Konan Zacharie, scored a brace for Minerva, who storm into the semi-final of the National Championship in breathtaking form. Two spectacular freekicks from Joseph Lalthafela brought some consolation for Sihphir. Rosary School also qualified for the semi-final with a 4-1 win. Baggio Fernandes bagged a superb hat-trick for Rosary making them the second team to qualify from Group A. In Group B, Kapasdanga Vidyapith also made it to the semi-final after a 3-3 draw with Al-Ameen Pre-University College. Dheeraj Shrinivas scored all the three for Al-Ameen while Tarak Abraham, a second half-substitute for Kapasdanga bagged a brace. Thakur College, Mumbai failed to qualify for the semi-final after a 3-0 loss to St. Anthony Higher Secondary School, Shillong. Minerva Public School will face St. Anthony while Kapasdanga will lock horns with Rosary School.

In the College Boys category, Baselius College, Kochi made it through to the semis with a narrow 1-0 victory over Zakir Hussain College. Baselius and Zakir Hussain both made it through to the semi-final from Group A with two wins each. In Group B, Netaji Nagar Day College, Kolkata cruised to the semi-final as group leaders with a 100 percent winning record, after a 1-0 win over St. Joseph College of Commerce, Bengaluru. St. Anthony College, Shillong grabbed the last vacant spot of the semi-final with a 5-1 victory over Fr. Agnel Goa. Baselius College will be squaring up against St. Anthony and Zakir Hussain will play Netaji Nagar College in the College Boys semi-final.
