Road to Finals- School Girls

P.S Senior Secondary School (PSSS), Chennai, defied all odds which were stacked against them when they came out victorious against Kadathandrajas Higher Secondary School, Kozhikode. A hard fought 1-1 across 60 minutes, the team from Chennai showed great nerves of steel to score all 5 of their spot-kicks and emerge as the finalists.

One player in particular whose clinical finishing has helped her team from Chennai secure a finalists’ spot is M Chadomaye. Her 3 goals across the National Championship have been vital for her team’s progress and this can be highlighted through her performance in the semi-finals when she grabbed the all-important equalizer to keep her team in the game.

PSSS will need all the confidence and motivation available as they head into the finals, solely because their opponents, Umthli Secondary School (USS), Shillong, are the favorites to lift the trophy on January 6th. With four wins out of four in the National Championship and 18 goals to their name, nobody would doubt otherwise. Their 2-0 win over My Own High School, Ahmedabad in the semi-finals highlighted just how well drilled their team is in every department. From Marbarin Nongrum, who leads the charts for the Golden Ball and the Golden Boot category with eight goals to her name to goalkeeper Banrisha Wahlang who has 2 clean sheets, it has been a tournament where the team from Shillong have stood out and grabbed everyone’s attention.

But will PSSS be able to spring another surprise or will USS put in a dominant performance to register their names on the ultimate prize. Find out how this encounter unfolds live at rfyouthsports.com on 6th January.
