Not long ago, RFYS Football City Championship concluded in Dehradun and Aizawl. As the tournament is reaching the concluding phase of City Championship in most of the cities, we had Lucknow and Indore hosting the Final event.

The day couldn’t have had a better start in the City of Nawabs as the College Boys teams Kalicharan PG College and Shri Jai Narayan PG College had one of the most nail-biting encounters. Shri Jai Narayan PG College had a dream start as they led the match with two goals to nil. However, Kalicharan PG College had no intentions to give up. They made a dramatic comeback from 0-2 to 2-2 at FT. The game went into penalties and Kalicharan PG College carried their momentum forward to win the game 4-2 on penalties. In Indore, the fixture was still unpredictable at the Half-Time, where Indore Christian College were leading 1-0 against IPS Academy. The former swiped away all the doubts when they racked up 4 more goals in the second half to win it 5-0 and lift the trophy.

La Martiniere faced Sacred Heart School in Lucknow’s Junior Boys category and La Martiniere’s streak of scoring 43 goals without conceding simply got extended to 48 without a reply. They won 5-0 to be crowned as champions. In School Girls category, Indore’s Govt. Excellence School’s 25-0 victory in the league stage had already raised the eyebrows of every participant in the tournament. St. Raphael’s Girls School’s talent and skills were no match for them as they won the Final 10-0.

The School Girls of Lucknow however had a tough game. CMS Aliganj had a slender lead of 1-0 against CMS Vishal Khand while heading into the second half. They managed to maintain that lead till the FT and their slick defence led them to win the prestigious trophy for their team. In Indore, Emerald Heights International Higher Secondary School came in well prepared to take on Choithram School in Junior Boys category. Emerald boys hammered 6 goals in the first half itself with Dilip Sisodia scoring 4 goals. In the second half, they slowed down but still scored another one to finish it 7-0 to lift the trophy.

It was the final showdown of the day in both the cities where the Senior Boys were going to lock horns. In Lucknow, DAV Inter College were trailing 0-1 against Seth Mr. Jaipuria School at Half-Time. They needed a magical response in the second half to make a comeback. The will of the players worked wonders and DAV Inter College responded in the second half with 2 goals in a span of just 6 minutes. In Indore, Emerald Heights International HSS started off brilliantly with a 15th minute breakthrough and doubled their lead in 44th minute. They scored two more in the second half to win it 4-0.
