St. Xavier’s score 28 goals as the week kicks off in style

Reliance Foundation Youth Sports (RFYS) football tournament was back in Mumbai and Kozhikode. Both cities hosted games in the Junior, Senior and College Boys categories.

The action started off in Mumbai where Arya Vidya Mandir came back from a two-goal deficit to level the score 2-2 against Bhaktivedanta Swami Mission School. This inspiring performance just fell short though, as Bhaktivedanta Swami Mission School eventually won 3-2 scoring via a late penalty. R.A Podar College and Vidyalankar Institute of Technology found themselves in a goalless stalemate at full-time. A missed penalty in the penalty shootout cost R.A Podar the game, as they lost 1-3.

St. Xavier’s High School and Junior College ran riot in their game against ICL High School by scoring an unbelievable 28 goals. What made this performance even more special is that they kept a clean sheet while doing so. Aakash Phadtare scored seven goals in an amazing performance which made him the Player of the Match.

In another scintillating performance by a team in Mumbai, Father Agnel’s Multipurpose School and Jr. College scored thirteen goals past Modern School in the Junior Boys category. Bharati Vidyapeeth College of Engineering triumphed in their penalty shootout encounter versus DY Patil, winning 10-8 in the end. Dnyan Pushpa Vidya Niketan showed no remorse against Ramseth Thakur Higher Secondary Vidyalaya, winning 13-1 at full-time.

The Junior Boys of GVHSS Meenchanda from Kozhikode scored a solitary goal against C.M.C Boys High School. Striker Muhammed N.P put in a match-winning display to get the player of the match honour.

Malabar Christian College registered a convincing win over Bharath Institute of Management and Technology, scoring seven goals and keeping a clean sheet. Muhammed MK scored four goals to help his team secure a great win.
