Semi-final Fixtures in Mumbai come to an end.

Reliance Foundation Youth Sports (RFYS) hosted the second leg of semi-final fixtures in Mumbai on a super Wednesday.

First up, the Junior Boys of Don Bosco High School, Matunga, squared up against Don Bosco Senior Secondary School, Nerul, in the beautiful Reliance Corporate Park in Ghansoli. Don Bosco High School were awarded a penalty after their player was fouled inside the 18-yard box. They missed a golden opportunity to go 1-0 up in the game after Nathan Murzello missed the penalty. The missed penalty didn’t deter their spirit as they scored five minutes later and got a well-deserved lead through Nihal Dudwalkar’s strike. Nihal doubled their advantage just one minute into the start of the second half as Don Bosco High School defended their lead and made their passage to the Junior Boys final. Nihal Dudwalkar was awarded the Player of the Match for his match winning brace.

In the second Junior Boys semi-final, St. Francis D’Assisi High School and Junior College secured a comfortable 2-0 win against Lakshdham High School to set up an interesting final with Don Bosco High School, Matunga. After being all square at 0-0 in the first half, St. Francis picked up their pace in the second and scored two impressive goals to finish the match in style. Larren Fernandes gave a Player of the Match performance from the midfield and scored a brilliant goal.

The College Boys match between Thakur College and Pillai College saw the deadlock being broken in the 40th minute when Melroy Assisi scored a curler from outside the 18-yard box. They scored a minute later to go into the break with a commanding 2-0 lead over Pillai College. Scoring two goals again in the second half, they advanced into the College Boys final with an alluring performance and a final score of 4-0. For his beautiful goal, Melroy Assisi was the Player of the Match.

The last semi-final fixture was to advance in the College Boys final between Kishinchand Chellaram College and Rizvi College of Arts, Science and Commerce. Both the teams started the game with strong intent but failed to score in the first half. The second half was a similar affair as both the teams put in strong defensive performances as the game ended all-square at full-time, meaning it was to be decided by a penalty shootout. In the end, Rizvi College edged out KC College 4-2 in the shootout with all the credit going to their keeper, who made some heroic saves to take them to the College Boys final.
