Athletics begin in the city of Mumbai

 

Reliance Foundation Youth Sports (RFYS) held the South Zone 2 championships today in the City of Hyderabad.

The day kicked off with Al-Ameen Pre-University sending out a firm warning to their competition in the Senior Boys Zonal Championships after they dominated from the very start to beat St. Mary’s Junior College by 5-0. Arun Kumar TR picked up the Player of the Match award for his clinical brace.

On the contrary, the Senior Boys of Army Public School were made to work their socks off as they staged a comeback in the second half. Being 1-0 down at the break, Aneesh Molani kick started the revival in the 66th minute. Such was the motivation from the goal, that two more were added in quick succession. In the end, APS held on to win 3-2 against a very disappointed Telangana Sports School.

Two goals either half secured a comfortable 4-0 win for Telangana Sports School in the School Girls category. Ravali R, who headed the attack for TSS bagged a sensational hat-trick to not give the opposition, even a sniff of a chance.

Leaving the best performance for the very last, St Joseph College of Commerce stood up and made everyone aware of their huge potential with a staggering 9-1 win over Wesley Degree College. Ayush Himanushu Panchamiya picked up a hat-trick and will have all hopes rested on his shoulders going ahead.

Reliance Foundation Youth Sports (RFYS) Athletics commenced in the City of Mumbai as the first day witnessed plenty of tight races. With a timing of 2:14 seconds, Rakesh Yadav from Maharashtra College clinched the Gold Medal in the 800m College Boys race. In the Senior Girls 100m race, the first placed Kirti Bhoite edged past Silver medallist Rosalin Lewis with only a few milliseconds dividing them.
