As the Reliance Foundation Development League Season 3 reaches its crescendo, the stakes have never been higher for the aspiring young football talents. With each passing game, the intensity has been on the rise, and the battle for qualification to the National Championships has gotten fiercer. The last few days at the National Group Stage were not short of drama and action. And here’s where things stand as the National Group Stage reaches its business end.

Group A - Mumbai

In Group A, Mumbai witnessed a tight race between Bengaluru FC and Reliance Foundation Young Champs (RFYC). With BFC leading the table with 10 points and RFYC closely behind with 7 points, the final match becomes decisive. A draw or loss for RFYC against their upcoming opponent means BFC sail through to the next round. So a win for Reliance Foundation Young Champs is absolutely necessary to keep their qualification hopes alive

It’s all getting intense and such a scenario arose owing to the thrilling goalless draw that RFYC and Bengaluru FC played out on April 15.

However, the remaining teams in Group A - Chennaiyin FC, Dempo SC and Kerala Blasters FC have already bowed out even before the start of the final matchday.

Group B - Kozhikode

Kozhikode sees Roots Football Club (Roots FC) and Muthoot Football Academy (Muthoot FA) battling for supremacy. The two teams had played out a 0-0 draw when they locked horns on April 13. Since then both teams have flexed their muscles with convincing wins. Roots FC, currently sit pretty on top with 10 points with Muthoot FA in the second spot with 7 points. The final matchday becomes a make-or-break moment for Muthoot FA. A draw or loss against FC Goa would see Roots FC through. Hence, to keep their qualification hopes alive, the RFDL Season 3 Kerala Regional Qualifiers has no other option than winning against FC Goa when they cross swords tomorrow.

FC Goa, Parappur FC and MYJ-GMSC have already bowed out of contention following their results in the first three matchdays in Group B. MYJ-GMSC is yet to open their account and would be desperate to end their campaign on a high, while FC Goa would aim to spoil Muthoot FA’s party.

Group C - Delhi

In Group C, East Bengal FC emerge as the frontrunner, having secured their qualification to the National Championships mathematically. With a hat-trick of wins in their opening three matches in the group, they ensured their qualification to the National Championships. The Red and Gold brigade did lose 2-0 against Delhi FC, but with Home Missions FC drawing their match against Adamas United SA, there was no way any team could match their tally of 9 points.

Despite the final matchday having no significant impact on qualification, all the four teams will be aiming to end their journey with a win. You can watch all the matches, LIVE, only on the RFYS YouTube channel.

Group D - Goa

Group D in Goa witnesses a showdown between Punjab FC and RFDL Season 2 runners-up Sudeva Delhi FC. Sudeva Delhi FC’s narrow 2-1 win over Mumbai City FC yesterday made sure that they stay in the hunt for the qualification. At this moment, Punjab FC is leading the table on better goal difference, setting up a thrilling encounter on the final matchday. Whoever wins the match between these two table-toppers make their way on to the RFDL Season 3 National Championships, and that sets up an absolute humdinger between these 2 sides on April 26.
