Speaking after his gold medal winning effort, Sreeshankar said, “This is my best performance since coming back from injury. I am really grateful to be competing here at the Kalinga Stadium. On the final day of action, Reliance Foundation athletes won a brace apiece of Gold and Silver medals.
After Ancy’s exploits the previous day, Sreeshankar hogged the limelight on the final day at his happy hunting ground of Kalinga Stadium. His effort of 8.38m was his second-best jump ever, with his best of 8.41m also having come at the same stadium. It also ensured that he will be going to his third consecutive Asian Games. Sreeshankar's 8.38m is the best jump by an Asian so far this season and the 7th best in the world in 2026.
Seema showed remarkable endurance to follow up her 5000m Gold with another Gold in the 10000m event to do the distance double.
The ever-reliable Yashas P followed up his Gold in the 400m hurdles event by being a part of the silver winning 4x400m Karnataka relay team.
Sawan Barwal, who broke the longstanding men’s marathon record earlier this year, then won silver in the men’s 10000m event to cap proceedings on a high for Reliance Foundation athletes.
