A Roaring Start To The RFYS 2023-24 Football Season in Mizoram
RFYS Football Mizoram Championship
The new season of Reliance Foundation Youth Sports (RFYS) came back on the pitch in Mizoram and it turned out to be an exhilarating affair. The action began on September 11 with exciting matches on offer in Champhai and Lunglei.
The competition in the U-15 Boys category kicked off on September 11 while the teams in U-17 Boys started competing the next day. The U-15 category started off with the knockout stage and the U-17 category kicked off with the league stage.
On September 11, the U-15 BC English Academy put on a clinical display to defeat Eastern Flower Academy 4-0 in their opener. K Lalnuntluanga was the star man for BC English, scoring a brace.
In another fixture in the same category, Presbyterian English School, Vengthlang registered a 3-0 victory against King Solomon's School, thanks to a brace by midfielder Jedidia V.
The action continued in the U-15 Boys on the next day. The U-15 Holy Mission School bested Pine Hill Academy 5-0. Nginkhanliana was adjudged the player of the match after getting on the scoresheet twice.
The opening day in the U-17 Boys category saw two stellar hat-tricks.
Lalrochhara scored three for Ruantlang High School helping his team to an impressive 6-0 victory over GM High School on September 12. Meanwhile, Malsawmzuala scored all three in Presbyterian English School, Vengthlang’s comfortable 3-0 win over Bethel High School.
On September 13, Sacred Heart School stole the show with an outstanding 9-0 victory against PukPui High School in the U-17 Boys category. Timothy RL and C Malsawmtluanga both scored hat-tricks to propel Sacred Heart to a thumping win, with the former bagging the player of the match award.
BC English Academy strolled to a 6-0 victory against Bethel High School in another U-17 Boys match. Lalhmunsanga shone the brightest, scoring a well-deserved hat-trick.
On September 14, Holy Angels School strolled to a 13-0 victory over Bethel High School in the Boys U-17 match, while Ruantlang High School cruised to a comfortable 5-0 win over Presbyterian English School, Vengthlang. On the other hand, Sacred Heart School edged past Electric Veng High School 2-1 in a close contest in the same category of the tournament.
The action continues in the North East Zone of the RFYS Season 2023-24 with more championship centers scheduled to kick off very soon. Stay tuned for all the latest updates from the exciting season.
