RFYS Season 4 Throwback Thursdays: National Championships, Day 5

 

Day 4 of the Reliance Foundation Youth Sports (RFYS) National Championships, provided an exhilarating day of football with 54-goals scored in total. On Day 5, the players in the Junior and Senior Boys categories took to the field with the added responsibility of keeping the built-up excitement alive, and they didn’t disappoint.

 

There were a total of eight matches played with four from each of the Junior and Senior Boys categories. Out of these, only 2 ended in draws as teams battled for maximum points under the clear skies of the Reliance Corporate Park, Mumbai. You can check out the entire list of results here.

 

The highlight of the day was the 10/10 performance from Malabar Special Police, HSS, Kozhikode as they found the net freely against Shyama Prosad Intermediate College, Jamshedpur who only managed to get one back. The match ended on a 10-1 scoreline with Player of the Match Athil Shibu scoring a stunning six goals.

 

That wasn’t the only high-scoring game of the day as Mamta Modern SSC, Delhi won by a 6-0 margin against Hiramani School, Ahmedabad. H.Elias Memorial School, Shillong and Maharana Pratap Sports College, Dehradun won by 4-0 margins against Govt. Oriental HS, Kozhikode and Maharashtra HS, Kolhapur respectively.

 

 

In all, a total of 25 goals were scored on Day 5 and we’ve picked out the Top 5 goals for you to enjoy in this video compilation.

 

Don’t let the strikers fool you in that video compilation as it wasn’t always easy for them to find the net. For every goal-fest on Day 5, there was also a fair share of clean sheets with the goalkeepers putting in a superb shift at the back. There were a total of four clean sheets and that’s testament to the excellent defending and shot-stopping. Check out the top 5 saves from day 5 in this quick compilation.

 

 

The day ended with the players walking off the grass with a feeling of contentment for putting in a full shift in their bids to secure qualification into the knockout phase. The players gave it their all on the field as they battled their opponents, but left it with a spirit of friendship and mutual respect for their opponents.
