RFYS Season 4 Throwback Thursdays: National Championships, Day 6

2020 kicked off with School Girls, College Boys and Sub Junior boys in action. There were a total of 12 matches which were played throughout the day.

While some of the knockout spots were already taken, there were a few spots up for grabs and therefore all the teams were raring to take to the pitch.

 

A total of 62 goals were scored in the entire day. All the categories witnessed high scoring clashes with just a solitary match ending in a draw. Here are some of the Top 5 spectacular Goals of the day.

 

Maidangshri Narzary (Titaguri High School) stole the limelight on Day 6 as she scored 8 goals past the Gorkha Millitary Inter College defence along with Annaroy Soibam (The Unique Model Academy) who scored all 5 of his team’s goals.

Poonam Poonam (St. Joseph’s School) scored 4 past the opposition on a day where School Girls put in some amazing individual performances.

 

Rooney R and Rishi R (VELS Vidhyashram), Akash Bhabore (Indore Christian College), Phrangki Buam (Shillong College), Lokesh K (Loyola College) all scored a brace for their respective teams. 

 

Apart from the goal scorers, there were some inspired performances from the backline of certain teams who ensured that the opposition won’t be able to breach their defences. And even though the forwards won all the individual accolades on the day, there were some key moments the goal keepers had.

 

 

 

 

Titaguri High School, St. Joseph’s International School and Nilmani English School from the School Girls division managed to keep a clean sheet.

 

VELS Vidhyashram, The Unique Model Academy and Progress High School from the Sub Junior Boys did not allow the opposition to score.

 

In the College Boys category Dr. Bhupendranath Dutta Smriti Mahavidyalaya, managed to keep the clean sheet.

The only draw of the day was the match between Betkuchi High School and Govt. Model High School, Sector Thirty Six, in the Sub Junior Boys division managed which ended with a scoreline of 1-1.

 

The last day of the league stages saw 20 teams finally qualifying for the semi-finals after 6 days of non-stop footballing action from the league stage. The stage was set for the top 20 teams from across the country spanning over 5 categories, and earned a place in the finals and be one step closer to the trophy!
