Conquering Indian Grand Prix 3 & 4

After grabbing three medals in the IGP 1 & 2 back in March, the RF Odisha HPC athletes continued their impressive streak in the 3rd & 4th editions of the Indian Grand Prix.

After grabbing three medals in the IGP 1 & 2 back in March, the RF Odisha HPC athletes continued their impressive streak in the 3rd & 4th editions of the Indian Grand Prix.

The Indian Grand Prix is an excellent platform for athletes to gain qualification standards for major competitions like the World Athletics, Commonwealth Games, and the Asian Games.

Held at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, in the Indian Grand Prix 3 & 4, 13 athletes participated in 8 different events.

The one-day event held on the 21st of May saw RF Odisha HPC athletes earn three medals.

After bagging the bronze medal in the 1st Indian Open Jumps Competition 2022, Swadhin Majhi increased his medal tally by adding another bronze in the high jump event with a leap of 2.05 Mt

In the same event, Nikhil Das earned himself the 4th spot with a jump of 1.95 Mt.

Laxmipriya Kisan secured her first medal in the season in the women’s 800M event, clocking 2:17.39 minutes to register her personal best.

In the men’s 800M event, athlete Pankaj Mondal earned the 6th position with a timing of 2:02.86 minutes.

And Ashok Dandasena completed the 5000M event in 15:17.23 minutes to secure the 6th position.

The Indian Grand Prix - 4 saw the athletes secure two medals, a personal best, and qualification in the Junior World Games.

Lalu Prasad Bhoi won the bronze medal, thereby creating a new personal best with a jump of 7.58M in the long jump event. Following this, Lalu also secured qualifications in the 2022 World Athletics U20 Championship.

Samrat Sa leapt 6.73M to grab the 13th position in the same event.

Athlete Manisha Merel leapt 5.86M to secure the 6th spot in the Women’s Long Jump event.

Aryan Ekka continued to build on his brilliant display in IGP 3 by grabbing his second silver medal in the 100M event, clocking 10.86 seconds. Mahendra Santa secured the 6th position within 11.27 seconds in the same event.

Athlete Ashok Dandasena finished seventh in the 1500M event with a recorded timing of 3:51.25 minutes, and Dayanidhi Munda attained the 13th spot after clocking 4:08.23 minutes.
