Enthralling start to the Diwali Weekend

It was a busy Friday as Reliance Foundation Youth Sports(RFYS) held fixtures in Chennai, Kochi and Kozhikode.

Amidst all the Diwali enthusiasm, Kochi started the fixtures with VHSS Irumbanam coming out as the 2-1 winners over St. Augustines Higher Secondary School. The score read 5-1 in favour of Mary Martha School against Carmel English Medium School.

In Kozhikode, GVHSS Areembra maintained their two- goal lead from the first half and won 2-0 against GVHSS Kondotty at the full-time whistle. The Junior Boys from SN Trusts Higher Secondary School and GVHSS Areembra took on each other in the second game of Kozhikode. SNN Trusts Higher Secondary School were trailing by a goal in the first half but soon came back with an equalizer in the early minutes of the second half. It looked like a close battle between the teams up until GVHSS Areembra scored four impressive goals to finish as 5-1 winners at full-time.

Baithul Izzah College vanquished Lissah College 5-1 at full-time. Their third goal was a neatly taken corner which was headed powerfully in the back of the net. In Chennai, Guruswamy Higher Secondary School scored five and kept a clean sheet in their 5-0 defeat of Sri Ram Vidya Mandir Higher Secondary School. St. Michaels Academy kept a clean sheet against Dhanish Matric Higher Secondary School, and comfortably won 6-0 at the final whistle.
