The Pink City will turn red and blue on 20th November as RFYS Football fever grips the city’s young footballers. It all started in the month of September when the city hosted RFYS Football tournament for the first time since its inception. Over the course of two months and participation of over 200 institutes, it all narrows down to eight teams who will battle it out for four City Championship trophies which will be up for grabs.

Neerja Modi School’s journey so far in the Senior Boys category has been a smooth sail throughout the stages of the tournament having won all their fixtures and conceding not a single goal. With the scores of 10-0, 9-0, 7-0 and 4-0, they have been a boss team so far. However, there opponents aren’t far behind in bossing the field. Maharaja Sawai Bhawani Singh School have had a great tournament so far and their victory of 17-0 has been the highlights of the tournament. They have it all in their team to intercept Neerja Modi School’s free run. A final match between these Senior Boys will serve as a perfect game to start the day with.

Neerja Modi School has been even more impressive when it comes to the girls. School Girls of their team have been absolutely ruthless in terms of scoring. In their opening game of the tournament, they netted 11 times and kept a clean sheet. After getting two walkovers, before they shined again in the semifinal as they passed the challenge with flying colours and scored 15 goals in what turned out to be a dominating win. They will be facing School Girls of Maharaja Sawai Bhawani Singh School who are the only team to challenge a team of Neerja Modi School’s caliber. Their 4-1 win in the semi-final was a team performance through and through. Having said that, they will be wary of the threat their opponents pose.

Talking about the Junior Boys category, Neerja Modi School are the finalist here as well, but they have a different opponent. Tagore International School have been a firepower whose attacking front are ever-hungry for goals and 36 goals in 4 matches testify their approach. However, Junior Boys of Neerja Modi School aren’t far behind, having scored 62 goals in 5 matches and conceding just 1. These teams have a perfect balance, telepathic coordination and both teams score at will. These unbeaten teams will face each other in a quest to become the Junior Boys champions.

The last game in the city will be played between College Boys of Saint Wilfred PG College and St. Xavier’s College, who are yet to lose a game. St. Xavier’s journey has faced equal number of easy and challenging fixtures and they pulled a great victory in the semi-final when they won 4-1. On the other hand, Saint Wilfred PG College were near perfect in their league games, scoring plenty of goals, keeping clean sheets throughout. They continued their form in the semi-final by winning it 3-0 and now they have one hand on the trophy, but a tough fight awaits them, and this game can be touted as a tight contest.
