RFYS Football Season 2023-24 Kicks Off In Hyderabad

RFYS Football Hyderabad Championship

The Reliance Foundation Youth Sports (RFYS) 2023-24 football season is back with another exciting season. The highly-anticipated RFYS football season kicked off in the South Zone on September 11th at the RFYS Football Hyderabad Championship, and the opening day witnessed its fair share of exhilarating battles.

Over 24,000 athletes and more than 1,650 teams from across the country are expected to participate in the RFYS 2023-24 football season, which will be played at 18 championship centers over the next few months.

In the U-17 Boys category on the first day, Birla Open Minds International School emerged as the standout performers, scoring a whopping 18 goals without any response in a knockout game against Neo School Aizzah High School.

In another U-17 Boys knockout game, Army Public School, R.K Puram defeated Govt. Boys High School, Risala Bazar Golconda by an impressive 16-0 margin.

Elsewhere, in the U-19 Boys category, a nail-biting knockout game between Page Jr. College, Banjara Hills, and Page Jr. College, Himayath Nagar grabbed the spotlight. Both teams scored five goals each in regulation time and took the game to penalties. Eventually, the Banjara Hills outfit won the penalty shoot-out 4-3.

On September 12th, Sreenidhi International School put up a brilliant performance against Little Flower Jr. College, Uppal, winning by an astonishing scoreline of 19-0 in a U-19 Boys knockout clash.

In another U-19 Boys knockout game, Delhi Public School, Nacharam triumphed over Wesley Boys Jr. College 15-1.

Meanwhile, in the U-17 Boys category, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Tirumalagiri bested St. Peters High School, Bowenpally, scoring 15 goals while keeping a clean sheet.

The girls' matches got underway on September 13th.

In a U-15 Girls knockout match, Dr. YSR Sports School, Kadapa marched to an 18-0 victory against Lead India Bharat Ratnas School.
In the other match in this category, Govt. High School, NBT Nagar sealed an impressive 5-0 victory against St. Andrews School, Bowenpally.
Elsewhere, Kendriya Vidyalaya I, Golconda defeated Page Jr. College, Banjara Hills 3-2 in a thrilling U-19 Boys knockout clash.


In the September 14th matches, Govt. Girls High School, Golconda stole the spotlight after an 11-0 win over Pallavi Model School in the U-19 Girls category.
St. Andrew’s School, Bowenpally, was victorious over St. Joseph's English Medium School in the U-15 Boys category, winning by a stunning margin of 14-0.

The action is on, and the stage is set for more exciting games. The youngsters are already making a mark as they return to the pitch in RFYS Season 2023-24.

Over the years, it has provided a valuable platform for young athletes to showcase their talents. The likes of Melroy Assisi, Hira Mondal, Makan Winkle Chote, Gurnaj Singh Grewal, Sivasakthi Narayanan, Shilky Devi Hemam and Mariyammal Balamurugan have all participated in the tournament before going on to sign professional club contracts with ISL and I-League teams, with some representing India at the international stage too.
