Khelo India Youth Games 2023: Athletes From RF Odisha Athletics High Performance Center Shine Bright With Dazzling Performances

The Khelo India Youth Games returned with a bang with several athletes from across the states in India participating. The sixth edition of the tournament, held from January 19 till January 31, 2024, was hosted in Tamil Nadu. The event, aimed at promoting sports and identifying promising athletes, witnessed fierce competition and breathtaking performances by the youngsters, and our athletes proved their mettle with some superlative performances.

Ommkar Nanda, KIYG 2024.

The highlight of the tournament this year was Ommkar Prasad Nanda who bagged two gold medals. He grabbed the pole position in the Boys' Hammer Throw as he covered a distance of 65.08m. He backed it up with yet another sensational performance in Shot Put. His best throw of 18.48m turned out to be enough to earn him his second gold.

Reyan Basha, KIYG 2024.

Reyan Basha showcased incredible speed and determination in the Boys' 100m. He dashed to the finish line in 10:81s ensuring his victory and a gold medal.

Sandip Gond, KIYG 2024


Among the other athletes who took part in the Khelo India Youth Games 2023, Sandip Gond caught the eyeballs with his impressive performance, The young hurdler registered a silver medal in the Boys’ 110m Hurdles with a timing of 13.89s.

Sunita Santa, from RF Odisha Athletics High Performance Center, also exhibited remarkable endurance during the Girls' 2000m steeplechase, earning herself a bronze medal, with a timing of 7:21.16.

 

In the overall championship, Team Odisha finished as the 2nd runners-up in the boys' category, while the relay team added another feather to the cap by finishing second in the 1000m medley relay, completing the race in an impressive 1:56.12.

The performance of the athletes from the RF Odisha Athletics High Performance Center at KIYG 2023 in Tamil Nadu was nothing short of remarkable.

 

The athletes' dedication, skill, and teamwork were evident in each event, contributing to their impressive medal haul with a total of six medals, including three gold, two silver, and one bronze. Congratulations to all the winners, and good luck with their future endeavors.
