RF & RF Odisha HPC athletes excel across competitions in June 2022

The athletes brought their all to the track and displayed their best performances, securing numerous medals. These competitions saw 16 athletes participate in 9 different events and win a total medal tally of 8. Let’s take a look at the competitions, participants, and the winners-

A busy month of June saw RF & RF Odisha HPC athletes participate in 3 different events -

          1. 20th National Federation Cup U-20 Athletics Championships 2022

          2. Khelo India Youth Games

          3. 61st National Inter State Senior Athletics Championships 2022.

The athletes brought their all to the track and displayed their best performances, securing numerous medals. These competitions saw 16 athletes participate in 9 different events and win a total medal tally of 8.

          1. 20th National Federation Cup U-20 Athletics Championships 2022

The athletes kickstarted the busy month of June with the 20th National Federation Cup U-20 Athletics Championships 2022. The 2-day competition started on the 2nd of June and saw eight athletes compete in 6 different events.

The 110m hurdler Graceson Jeeva continued to show his sublime form after bagging three gold medals at the Chelmsford Open Meeting, Loughborough International Competition, and Charlie Kelly Speed Series, Coventry.

The 19-year-old sealed the silver medal in the 110m hurdles event with an impressive timing of 14.12s at the 20th National Federation Cup U-20 Athletics Championships 2022.

          2. Khelo India Youth Games

Three days later, the athletes were all set to compete in the second competition of the month at the prestigious Khelo India Youth Games where 4 athletes participated in 3 different events and bagged three medals in 2 days.

Sabita Toppo’s leap of 5.60m in the long jump event saw her claim the bronze, securing her 3rd medal of the year.  

In-form Graceson Jeeva continued his winning run as he grabbed the bronze in the 110m hurdles event with a timing of 13.68s and win his 2nd medal within a week.

Aryan Ekka concluded his 200m event in just 22.10s to seal the silver medal, marking his second silver after he secured the 2nd place finish in the Indian Grand Prix -4.

          3. 61st National Inter State Senior Athletics Championships 2022

In June’s final competition, 7 athletes competed in 6 events at the 61st National Inter State Senior Athletics Championships 2022 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

This competition saw Amlan Borgohain secure 2 medals in the 100m & 200m events. His exceptional timing of 10.47s enabled him to win the gold medal in the 100m event by clocking 10.47s. After this feat, Amlan replicated his performance to win another gold in the 200m event, clocking 21.00s.

In the 110m hurdles event, Siddhanth Thingalaya bagged the gold medal with an incredible timing of 13.93s, and Moumita Mondal sealed the silver in the 100m hurdles event by clocking 13.86s.

Endurance athlete Mohammed Afsal continued his fine form to conclude the 800m event with a timing of 1:48.82 minutes.
