RFYS Athletics National Championship 2019-20, Day One Recap, Part 1

What a day! Filled with so much excitement. Records were broken across the board with many players working tirelessly to achieve their personal bests. There were 32 events on day one. Check out part one of the day’s recap below!

The first event of the day, kicking off at 10:30AM was the 2000 Meter final run in the Junior Boys category. The players from Guru Gobind Singh Sports College took the top two spots with Sharukh Khan coming in first with a time of 5:49.07 and his teammate Brajesh Kumar placing second with a run time of 5:51.25. In third place was Arun Kumar Sau from Kalindi Union High School with a time of 5:53.08. 

 

The second event of the day was the Triple Jump Final in the College Girls category. It ran concurrently with the first event at 10:30AM. Chandralekha L took the first place prize for Nirmala College with a jump distance of 11.66 meters. Thakur College’s Shweta Arvind Thakur grabbed second place with a jump distance of 11.53 meters. Coming in third was Pragati Ramchandra Sankpal from Dr. Mane College with a jump distance of 11.50 meters. 

 

The third event of the day, also starting at 10:30AM was the Shot Put Final in the Sub-Junior Boys category. Coming in first was Nikhilesh from Pratap Singh Memorial with a put distance of 16.21 meters. In second place was Mohammed Niyaj Niyaz from N’s International School with a put distance of 13.58 meters. The third-place prize went to Godwill Inter College’s Prence Tomar. He had a put distance of 12.91 meters. 

 

The fourth event of the day started at 10:45AM. It was the 2000 Meter Final in the Junior Girls category. The first place with a run time of 6:50.89 went to Nari Shiksha Niketan’s Sunita Devi. The same institution also grabbed the second place prize with Sunita’s teammate, Pushpa Yadav getting a run time of 6:53.47. The third-place award went to Pooja Patel from RP Inter College with a run time of 7:09.24.
