It was a cracker of a day for Mumbai at the Reliance Foundation Youth Sports football tournament as it hosted three qualifier games in the College and Senior Boys category.
The morning got merrier for the boys from Saraswati College of Engineering who won their qualifier game handsomely against Sterling College of Arts, Commerce and Science. Nayan Kamble scored a blistering hat-trick in the first-half, earning him the player of the match accolade. Saraswati College kept up the momentum, adding a further two goals in the stoppage minutes of the game to end the match on an impressive score line of 5-0!
S. K. College of Science & Commerce scored in the first ten minutes of the game against Terna Engineering College, thanks to a strike from Vasanlal Prithvilal Thapa. In response, Terna College threw everything at them in the final minutes of the match but a sturdy defense from S K College ensured they held on to get a valuable win.
The final game of the day saw Sterling College of Arts,Commerce & Science face JVMS Mehta Degree and Junior College. Laraib Sayed of Sterling Jr. College produced an astounding second-half performance, scoring a hat-trick and terrorizing the opposition's defense constantly! For his inspiring performance, Sayed was adjudged the player of the match.
