City Finals Day 7: Bhopal's Grand Entrance to the National Qualifiers

The first match was in the senior boys' division with Jawaharlal Nehru School, BHEL facing off against St. Joseph’s Co-Ed School, Arera Colony.

 

The first match was in the senior boys' division with Jawaharlal Nehru School, BHEL facing off against St. Joseph’s Co-Ed School, Arera Colony. The first half started with a couple of near misses and almost scores for both teams but eventually St. Joseph’s pulled into the lead with a goal from Shonit Singh in the 41st minute. The second half started with Jawaharlal Nehru School controlling possession and taking chances - ending with their offense being dulled out. The match ended 1-0 with St. Joseph’s taking home the final’s trophy.

The second match was between Kamla Devi Public School and The Sanskaar Valley School in the Junior Boys Division. Kamla Devi started the proceedings with a goal by Arajit Haider in the 7th minute. This was after a couple of chances that they could not convert. They managed to score again in the 18th minute, this time with another strike by Arajit Haider. He kicked off the second half with two more goals, to bring his total to four in the game, in the 32nd and 45th minute. Kamla Devi scored twice more in the 53rd and 57th minute en route to a comfortable 6-0 victory.

The School Girls from St. Ann’s English Medium Higher Secondary School, Harda and St. Joseph’s Co-Ed School, Arera Colony competed with each other. St. Ann kicked started the match with a goal in the 2nd minute by Rilika Vishnoi. They scored again with a free-kick from Neha Mukati in the 6th minute. Siddhika Vishnoi made it to an even score of 3-0 with a chip shot that completely bamboozled the keeper in the 24th minute. Neha Mukati scored on either side of the half in the 28th and 29th minutes. Siddhika scored again in the 40th and 47th minutes with Neha Mukati chipped in for one more in the 46th minute. St. Ann ended up winning the trophy with the final scoreline being 8-0.

The fourth matchup of the day was a Sub-Junior Boys game between Billabong High International School and Sanskaar Valley School. The first half was pretty slow with both teams evenly matched and neither being able to take advantage of any gaps or weak points in their opponent. Sanskaar Valley finally took the lead with Mritunjay Singh got through Billabong’s defense to score in the 28th minute. The second half started with a score by Billabong’s Kalpit Mourya in the 41st minute. Billabong took the lead with a free-kick goal by Suyash Agrawal in the 57th minute. Billabong turned the tables on Sanskaar Valley by first tying the game then retaking the lead right before full time.

The final match of the day had Lakshmi Narain College of Technology face the Oriental Group of Institutions in the College Boys division. The first goal of the match was with a free-kick by Lakshmi Narain’s Waaled Khan in the 37th minute. They went into the half with a 1-0 lead. They padded their lead with another score four minutes before full time by Kapil Malviya. They won the game 2-0 to crown themselves the champions.
