City Finals Day 10: Meet the Champions of Madurai

The first match of the day was American College Higher Secondary School vs Don Bosco Higher Secondary School.

 

The first match of the day was American College Higher Secondary School vs Don Bosco Higher Secondary School. American College scored first with a strike from Sri Saravana Ganesh. American College hit the net twice again with a double strike from Siva Rajan in the 13th and 15th minutes. Making it 5-0, Pugalendhi K scored twice in the 15th minute. Sri Saravana Ganesh became the third American College player to score two goals when he scored with a header at the start of the second half. American kept on scoring with Siva Rajan hitting his hattrick goal in the 47th minute. Sri Saravana Ganesh and Pugalendhi got their hattrick in the 49th and 53rd minutes. American College kept on scoring with no signs of stopping until the final whistle. When the carnage finally stopped, the scoreline read 13-0.

 

 

The second match was between Kalasalingam Academy and St. Judes College, Thoothoor, in the College Boys Division. St. Jude’s scored the first goal of the match in the 14th minute. It was set up with a beautiful corner that was taken to the nets by Mcmanaman in the 14th minute. He struck again to put St. Jude’s up 2-0 in the 15th minute. That was it for the match, as both teams tried to break through their opponent’s defenses and score to either pad the lead or gain the lead. The final score was 2-0 in favor of St. Judes.

Match three was a Sub-Junior Boys matchup between AKR Matriculation Higher Secondary School- Enangudi and St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School- Mahalipatti. St. Mary’s took the lead in the 6th minute with a score from Sanjai B. That was all the action in this match, as the final score read 1-0. AKR tried to change their strategy in the second half, but it was to no avail as St. Mary’s defense pulled through in securing a win for their team.

 

The fourth match of the day was a School Girls fixture between Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Tallakulam Road and Nirmala Girls Higher Secondary School, Thoothukudi. Government Girls Higher scored in the 4th and 7th minute to start the carnage. They kept up the barrage with continuous goals with 12th, 14th, 15th, 17th and 20th minutes. They gave Nirmala a brief respite but then scored in the 27th minute on a penalty kick to make it 8-0 to end the first half. The second half started with a goal in the 38th minute. Nirmala had no answer to the Government Girls Higher offense as they kept up the barrage with goals in the 45th and 47th minute. As the game got closer to the end, Government Girls Higher scored three more goals to end the game 15-0. With the 15th goal of the match, Government Girls broke the record of most goals scored in a Championship game.

 

The final match of the day was a Senior Boys game between American College Higher Secondary School and St. Lasalle Higher Secondary School. American College scored the first goal late in the first half with a header from Nithesh in the 33rd minute. That was it for the first half. The second half continued with a back and forth tussle between the two teams. St. Lasalle tried to find games but the American College defense was too strong. The final scoreline read 1-0.
