RFYS Football Season 2022-23: Cosmos Castle outplayed H. B. Kapadia School in Ahmedabad, Loyola College steamroll Rajeswari Arts College in Chennai

Reliance Foundation Youth Sports (RFYS) Football Season 2022-23 continued with some enthralling knockout round games on Matchday 1 of their respective city championship center launches in Ahmedabad and Chennai.

The opening day of the Ahmedabad City Championship witnessed three fascinating matches on Thursday, October 6.

Cosmos Castle International School annihilated The H. B. Kapadia New High School of Memnagar 20-0 in the senior boys category at the SGVP International School in the first game of Matchday 1 in Ahmedabad.

Aditya Pandya opened the scoring for Cosmos Castle in the seventh minute before Meiraba Singh doubled the lead four minutes later.

Pandya netted as many as four goals before half-time while Jenglenngam Haokip scored once and Kartikeya Telluja bagged a brace to help Cosmos Castle take an astonishing 8-0 lead.

Mangel Wahengbam also netted one more after half-time while Sandeep Singh, Shekhar Patel, Hemkhalen Haokip, and Umbar Singh also found the back of the net.

Aditya Pandya was adjudged the player of the match for scoring eight goals.

In the second game of the day, Kendriya Vidyalaya No. One Shahibaug suffered a 0-3 defeat against Naranpura's St. Xavier High School Loyola Hall in the senior boys category.

 

Kendriya Vidyalaya No. One Shahibaug disappointingly started the match as they conceded an unfortunate own goal in the 15th minute to go 0-1 behind before half-time.

In the second half, St. Xavier High School Loyola Hall’s Mikhail Nikhail Fernandez scored a brace in the 31st and 40th minute of the game to secure a convincing victory for his side.

On the other hand, St. Kabir School overcame Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's V.M. Public School 1-0 in the final game on Thursday.

Siddhartha Rajesh Sharma scored the solitary goal of the match for St. Kabir School to help them register an important win on Matchday 1 of the Ahmedabad City Championship.

Three days later in the Chennai City Championship, Seventh Day Adventist secured a 3-0 win against Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School courtesy of a walkover in the senior boys event on Matchday 1 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai on October 10.

Later in the afternoon, S.R.M. Institute of Science and Technology thrashed Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda College 5-0 in the college boys category on the same day.

Meanwhile, Loyola College stole the limelight as they hammered Rajeswari Government Arts College 18-0 in the college boys category.

In the final game of the college boys event in Chennai, VELS Institute of Science, Technology & Advanced Studies pipped the New College 1-0 to advance to the next round while also registering a clean sheet.
