RFYS Football Season 2022-23: Spirited youngsters light up the stage in Bhubaneswar and Sonipat City Championship finals - Know who won the title

The City Championship in Sonipat and Bhubaneswar culminated with some action-packed football in the semi-final and the final rounds. Goals were scored in big numbers in these knockout stages, with plenty of talented young kids taking this golden opportunity to showcase their talents with both hands.

 

The semi-finals of the Sonipat City Championship took place on November 9 and 10, with the finals across five divisions taking place on November 11.

SD Senior Secondary School produced one of the results of the Sub-Junior Boys’ final four stages, smashing eight goals against Apollo International School. They went on to win the final against Army Public School Hisar to be crowned champions of their age category.

Government College Israna defeated Ashoka University in the College Boys final. Government College opened its scoring account in the opening minute and added another in the 14th minute. A second-half goal from Ashoka University proved to be a consolation as Government College wrapped up the proceedings 2-1.

In the Senior Boys final, a late goal from Government Senior Secondary School propelled them to the title against Motilal Nehru School of Sports. The eventual champions of the category were also rampant in their semi-final fixture, smashing five goals against Delhi Public School on November 9.

Government Senior Secondary School, Bhiwani fended off the challenge against Arya Senior Secondary School in the School Girls category final. The team from Bhiwani scored in the second minute of the game and added another one to the tally late in the fixture, to emerge with a 2-0 victory on Friday.

Kalinga Institute complete a clean sweep in Bhubaneswar

 

The finals of the Bhubaneswar City Championship took place on November 12. Kalinga Institute of Social Science picked up five championships across different age categories in Bhubaneswar, emerging as the most successful institute in the city.

In the School Girls' age division, Kalinga Institute of Social Science-School picked up a 7-1 win against Capital Girls High School at the Birla Global University on Saturday. Capital Girls High School won the semi-finals, smashing 10 goals against Sai International School in the semi-final, but did not turn up with that ferocity in the final.

Kalinga Institute entered the final of the Under-16 Boys Championship after a 3-0 win in the semi-final against Sayeed Seminary.

They had a tricky outing in the Junior Boys final against Prachi Academy. They came from behind to equalize in normal time and won the game in a penalty shootout.

In the Sub-Junior Boys category, Kalinga Institute squared off against Sayeed Seminary, and Cuttack, and ran away with the game in the second half. After scoring the opening goal in the first 45, they scored three in six minutes. The game finished 4-1 in favor of the Kalinga Institute.

They also defeated Sayeed Seminary in the Senior Boys final in a close-fought encounter. The goal for Kalinga Institute came late in normal time, with just seven minutes remaining, and there was no coming back for the opponent after that.

The Kalinga Institute of Social Science College was up against Siksha Anusandhan in the College Boys Championship final. A goal each in either half of the game helped them win the fixture 2-0.
