After intense battles on the first two days of the Reliance Foundation Youth Sports (RFYS) National Championships, day 3 treated us to a mix of nervy encounters and high scoring thrillers. The teams were still locked in the group stages looking to stake claim to a place in the next rounds.

There were a total of eight matches played through Day 3 with four matches from the Junior Boys category and four among the Senior Boys category. The matches were played under the bright sunny skies at the Fr. Agnel Grounds, Navi Mumbai.

The first six matches all yielded clear winners, while only the last two matches of the day ended in draws. TG English School, Imphal and Maharashtra High School, Kolhapur both failed to find the net while Shyama Prosad Intermediate College, Jamshedpur and Hiramani School, Ahmedabad shared two goals between them. You can check out the complete list of results here.

While the strikers were going about their duties up front, the goalkeepers were in no mood to take anything lying down. The keepers tried to keep their defenses organised and were ready to pounce into action whenever someone found a way through. Don’t miss this highlight reel of the top 5 saves from Day 3 where our young goalies really take your breath away.

The winning teams were satisfied with sealing the three points but what was most evident at the end of the day was the determination from the teams who couldn’t secure maximum points as they left the field with a steely resolve to come back and fight again in their bid to seal qualification.

Stay tuned as we bring you all the action from Day 4 in the next edition of our Throwback Thursday series.
