My Own High School and Delhi Public School steal the show in Ahmedabad!

Ahmedabad hosted City Championship semi-finals in School Girls and College Boys categories.

Delhi Public School(DPS) became the first team to enter the finals of the School Girls category in Ahmedabad today after a 2-0 win over Ahmedabad Public school(APS) in the opening semi-final of the day. DPS were the dominant team throughout the first half but couldn't find the back of the net, thanks to a tight APS defense. The consistent pressure finally reaped rewards in the second half when Ira Sharma opened the scoring for DPS in the fiftieth minute. Mallika's goal, six minutes later crushed APS's hope of a comeback. The second semifinal to decide the other finalist in the School Girls category was played between My Own Public School(MOPS) and The Riverside School(THS). MOHS scored the first goal in three minutes which opened the floodgates. They went on to add three more in the opening half including a sublime finish from Hetal Thakor. MOHS went on to add five more goals in the second-half to finish the game on an impressive score line of 9-0. Antar Thakor was adjudged the player of the match for a fiery performance.

The first College Boys semi-final between L D College Of Engineering(LDCE) and Navrachna University(NU) was a tight affair. Renpithung Z Murry opened the scoring for LDCE in the opening minutes of the game. NU created multiple chances after conceding but weak finishing and poor decision making in the final third let them down. They were soon made to regret the missed chances when Jehosua Khaimeicho doubled LDCE's lead with a belter. It all seemed over for NU when they conceded their third on the stroke of an hour after a mistake from the defender, giving Renpithung Z Murry a chance to double his personal tally. Navrachna University saw a glimmer of hope in the eightieth minute after Varshil Praful Doshi's finish from a tight angle. Things became a little more interesting when Pratik brought the deficit back to one goal with a thunderous goal but LDCE's defense held on tightly for the last ten minutes to book their place in the finals. The concluding semi-final of the day between Shree M. P. Shah College(SMPSCC) and St. Xaviers College(XAV) was a roller coaster ride. Farooq Abdul Sodha scored twice inside the opening thirty minutes for SMPSCC. Roshan got a goal back for XAV with a neat side-foot finish but Kshitij's chip over the keeper restored the two-goal lead for SMPSCC. The first half finished at 3-1 in favor of SMPSCC. Farooq completed his hattrick soon after the restart and made it 4-1 for SMPSCC. XAV’s hope were reignited after they scored twice in two minutes including a thumping header from Sergio. SMPSCC were not fazed with a potential comeback from XAV and continued playing attacking football. The game finished 4-3 and Shree M. P. Shah College booked their place in the finals where they will meet L D College Of Enginnering.
