It was another jam-packed day of action in the Reliance Foundation Youth Sports (RFYS) football tournament on Wednesday. Junior and Senior Boys category matches were played in Mumbai, while Kolkata and Delhi played host to only College Boys category games.
All the matches in Mumbai took place at Fr. Agnel Ground, Vashi with the first game of the day taking place between Mazidun High School and Junior College and DY Patil International School, Navi Mumbai.
Mazidun High School and Junior College demonstrated complete dominance in the game and registered an emphatic 9-0 win. They scored twice in the first half and seven times in the second, including a DY Patil International School own goal.
The next match of the day in the same category featuring Ryan International, Kharghar and Avalon Heights International School was a much closer affair and ended all square at 1-1 in normal time. Avalon Heights took the lead in the second half only for Ryan International, Kharghar to equalise shortly after to take the match into penalties. However, Avalon Heights just managed to hold their nerve and edge past Ryan International 4-3 on penalties.
Balbharti faced Presentation Convent School in the last Junior Boys category game of the day. Another lopsided affair, Balbharti hit the back of the net on nine occasions to cap off a comfortable and dominant showing. They scored four times in the first period and five in the second.

The action in Kolkata saw Charuchandra College take on Bidhan Nagar College in a Group A encounter at Jadavpur University. In control of the match from start to finish, Charuchandra College beat Bidhan Nagar College with a resounding 12-1 score-line.
They scored seven times in the opening half that also saw Bidhan Nagar College score a goal of their own. Charuchandra College scored another five times in the second period. Safik Ali scored four goals for them.
The other College Boys category game in Kolkata pitted Bhawanipore Education Society College against Sarsuna College in Group F. Bhawanipore Education Society College scored twice in the first half before adding a third two minutes after the break. Sarsuna College did pull a goal back in the 73rd minute to make it 3-1 in Bhawanipore Education Society College’s favour at full-time.
The matches in Delhi took place at Central Secretariat and Netaji Subhash Sports Complex, Jasola. Hansraj College got the ball rolling against PGDAV College in the capital city. PGDAV netted thrice in the first half to go in with a 3-0 lead at half-time. A goal by Hansraj College straight from kick-off in the second period made the game interesting, however, a fourth PGDAV goal in the 57th minute made it an easy 4-1 win for them.
Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar College beat Deshbandhu College 3-1, while Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies produced a dazzling display to seal a 4-0 triumph against Ram Lal Anand College.

Delhi Technological University also won their fixture against Rajdhani College in what was an entertaining and end-to-end encounter. After racing into a two-goal lead by the 51st minute with goals in either half, things went downhill for Rajdhani near the hour mark as Delhi Technological University scored their first goal of the game to make it 2-1. Three more goals in the space of the next fifteen minutes completely transformed the game and made it 4-2 in Delhi Technological University’s favour at full-time.
However, the game between St Stephens College and Ramjas College at Netaji Subhash Sports Complex, Jasola has to go down as the match of the day. Satvik Sahni opened the scoring for St Stephens in the first minute before Ude Pratop doubled their advantage with 10 minutes on the clock. Rohan Shaw made it 3-0 to St Stephens in the 34th minute of the game, while Sahni scored his second of the game four minutes after the break to make it 4-0.
The game wasn’t done and dusted by a long shot though. A goal in the 59th minute by Ramjas College’s Neelarsh Mittra breathed some life into their challenge. Another goal by Ramjas College in the 71st minute further brightened up things for Ramjas. But when Mittra scored his second and Ramjas College’s third of the match, it was well and truly game on.
Credit must go to St Stephens, however, for keeping themselves composed and holding on to their lead for the final 10 minutes of the game. They held on to complete a thrilling 4-3 win with Satvik Sahni picking up the Player-of-the-Match award for his brace.
The final match of the day in Delhi saw College of Vocational Studies go up against Deen Dyal Upadhyaya College. Three goals from College of Vocational Studies in the first half and another four in the second made for a comfortable 7-0 win Deen Dyal Upadhyaya College.
