RFYS Football Season 2022-23: Namma Bengaluru witnesses epic finals day

Greenwood High International won the title in the Sub Juniors Boys and School Girls categories of the Bengaluru City Championship 2022-23.

After competitive and eye-catching football in the Bengaluru City Championship 2022-23, five teams were crowned champions on Wednesday, November 23, 2022.

While Greenwood High International won two categories, Delhi Public School East, Ved Vignana Maha Vidya Peeth, and St. Joseph's Autonomous were also crowned champions in their respective categories of the RFYS Football Season 2022-23.

In the first final of the day, Delhi Public School East clinched the Senior Boys title. The match ended 2-2, but DPS East won 5-3 on penalties. Meanwhile, Ved Vignana Maha Vidya Peeth won the Junior Boys final 4-2. St. Joseph's Autonomous secured the College Boys title with a 2-0 success over Acharya Institute.

The first of Greenwood High International’s two trophies came in the Sub Junior Boys category. They beat St Joseph’s Boys High School by a comfortable 5-0 margin. With an even more emphatic 6-0 victory against Parikrama Centre For Learning, they won the School Girls title too.

Earlier in the week, the Reliance Foundation Youth Sports football season at Bengaluru saw semi-final action on November 21 and 22, 2022.

The opening game was enthralling, as St John’s Composite won 7-6 in the Senior Boys category on penalties after a 2-2 tie in regular time. Delhi Public School East won the other semi-final 3-2.

St Joseph’s Boys High School grabbed an emphatic 5-0 victory in the first Sub Junior Boys semi-final, while Greenwood High International won 1-0 in a close game against Delhi Public School East.

In the College Boys category, Bengaluru witnessed two engaging semi-finals. Acharya Institute won 1-0 against St Joseph’s Commerce College in the first semi-final. Meanwhile, St Joseph’s Autonomous won 4-3 on penalties after the match ended 1-1.

The Junior Boys semis saw 21 goals scored. The Sports School won with an emphatic 16-1 scoreline, while Ved Vignana Maha Vidya Peeth, too, beat Govt School Vidhyanagar comfortably.

In the School Girls semi-finals, Greenwood High International grabbed a final spot after beating Delhi Public School East 5-2. Parikrama Centre For Learning, too, made the final after a 4-0 win against Govt. School Vidhyanagar.
