RFYS Football Season 2022-23: Talented youth come out on top as Kolhapur and Chandigarh cities witness raining goals

Following an enthralling finale of the Kolhapur and Chandigarh City Championship, a total of nine teams were crowned champions in their respective categories.

In the Kolhapur leg, Maharashtra High School swept the Sub Junior Boys, Junior Boys, and Senior Boys disciplines and Vivekanand College won the School Girls trophy.

Maharashtra High School’s Sub Junior Boys team thrashed their opponents 8-2 in the final as Alphonsa School finished runners-up.

The Junior Boys squad of Maharashtra High School took the team’s performance to another level with a one-sided 5-0 win over Chhatrapati Shahu Vidyalaya to lift the trophy.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra High School added another trophy to their cabinet with the Senior Boys team registering a dominant 11-0 victory over New Model English School to complete a hat-trick of trophies for their school.

In the School Girls category, Vivekanand College won a close encounter against Shri Kad Sidheshwar School. After the game ended 1-1 in regulation time, the former prevailed in an exciting penalty shoot-out, getting the better of their opponents by 5-4.

Up north in Chandigarh, five different teams lifted trophies across as many categories.

 

Minerva Public School, Govt Sec School 37, Govt Model 22A, Namdhari Sports Academy, and Guru Hargovind Khalsa Sudhar have been crowned champions in Sub Junior Boys, Junior Boys, Senior Girls, Senior Boys and College Boys categories, respectively.

The Sub Junior Boys semis saw 21 goals in all, with Govt Model High School and eventual champions Minerva Public School firing nine and 12 goals against their respective oppositions.

Pandit Mohan Lal S D Public School and Vivek High played out an entertaining seven-goal thriller, with the latter emerging victorious by 4-3 in the Senior Boys category. The other match saw Namdhari Sports Academy win 6-0 against Shishu Niketan Model School.

Post-Graduate Govt College lost to Guru Hargovind Khalsa Sudhar 0-3 on penalties in the College Boys semis as Post Graduate Govt College thrashed Ravat Bahra University 7-0.
