Kynan Chenai: Carrying a Legacy, Chasing Glory | Reliance Foundation Sports
For Kynan Chenai, shooting was almost a natural progression. Born and raised in Hyderabad, Kynan grew up around the sport. His father, Darius Chenai, was a two-time national champion, and shooting was already part of the family’s sporting legacy. At the age of 10, Kynan picked up a shotgun and began a journey that would eventually take him to the highest levels of the sport. Even as a student, shooting remained a constant. From boarding school to college in England, he balanced academics with competitions and training. As his commitment to the sport grew, so did the demands of becoming an elite shooter. Kynan made his Olympic debut at Rio 2016 and went on to establish himself as one of India's leading trap shooters. At the Asian Games in Hangzhou, he was part of India's gold-medal-winning men's trap team and also won individual bronze. But for Kynan, the highs of shooting have always come with equally difficult lows. In a sport where success can come down to a handful of shots, learning from failure, staying disciplined and managing the mental demands of competition have become as important as technical skill. Reliance Foundation has been an important part of that journey, providing Kynan with access to a wider support system including psychological support, physiotherapy and athlete management. For him, that support is ultimately about belief — and proving himself worthy of it. Now, with another Asian Games ahead, Kynan is clear about what he wants. “We go to the Asian Games to dominate.” 🎬 Watch Kynan Chenai’s story in the latest episode of Safar Champions Ka! on our YouTube channel.
