St. Anthony score eight past St. Joseph’s
default
The third day of the RFYS National Championships in the football tournament saw a barrage of goals being scored in the Senior Boys and College Boys category.
On a chilly Mumbai morning, Rosary Higher Secondary School played against Sihphir Higher Secondary School in the Senior Boys category. Rosary were in the ascendancy early in the game with a fifth-minute goal scored by Stendly Fernandes. Vanlal Peka from Sihphir higher secondary school scored the equalizer with a spectacular free-kick but a penalty given in extra time sealed the deal for Rosary School giving them a 2-1 win.
Government higher secondary school Panampilly, Kochi were playing against the ever-dominant Minerva Public School, Chandigarh. Minerva Public School yet again proved themselves with five thunderous goals against Govt. HSS. Konan Zacharie scored two goals for Minerva and took the Player of the Match award. Kapasdanga Vidyapith left it late in their match against Thakur College, Mumbai to register a 2-0 win. St. Anthony HSS won 5-4 against Al-Ameen Pre-University College in a roller coaster of a match. Dheeraj Srinivas scored a brilliant hat-trick for Al-Ameen but it meant little as Al-Ameen are almost out of the competition with two losses.
College Boys also witnessed competitive games today. Zakir Hussian College, Delhi locked horns with Mayai Lambi College, Imphal. 25th and 93rd-minute goals by Aditya Singh Rawat and Zangdipou Panmei completed a 2-0 victory for the Zakir Hussian. Basellius College, Kochi were up against the Ahmedabad Champions, Shree MP Shah College. Baselius College scored goals at regular intervals in their game, taking a comfortable 3-0 victory against their counterparts. St. Anthony College, Shillong thumped St. Joseph’s College Of Commerce by eight goals without reply. Damehun Syih scored a superb hattrick for St. Joseph’s. Netaji Nagar College, Kolkata registered a 2-0 win over Fr. Agnel, Goa in the last game of the day.
