Reliance Foundation Sports Athlete Krishna Jayasankar never planned on becoming an athlete. Sport found her almost by chance - when her school PT teacher introduced her to shot put in fifth grade. What began with a single throw soon became a journey of determination, setbacks and self-belief. From being unsure if she could even run to competing at the highest levels, Krishna kept pushing forward, eventually making history as the first Indian woman thrower to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Championships in discus. Her comeback continued as she repeatedly raised the Indian indoor shot-put record, taking the mark from 16.03m to 17.09m and becoming the first Indian woman to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships. Now, with a 17.35m season best in 2026 and a place in India’s Asian Games squad, Krishna is ready for the biggest stage yet. With belief in herself, a strong support system behind her and bigger goals ahead, she knows this is only the beginning.
