What started with a father’s dream of seeing his daughter become a sportsperson soon found its target in archery. Reliance Foundation Sports Athlete Chikitha Taniparthi discovered the sport almost by chance, moving from karate to archery and beginning her journey by practising in the fields in a small village in Telangana. Guided by mentor and Indian compound archer Abhishek Verma, Chikitha steadily found her place in the sport. In 2025, she created history at the World Archery Youth Championships in Canada, becoming the first Indian woman to win the U-21 individual compound world title. Now, with her first Asian Games ahead, Chikitha is ready to aim higher. Carrying her father’s dream, the lessons of her journey and a belief in what lies ahead, she is setting her sights on a new chapter for India.
