RFDL 2025-26: FC Goa set for title chase at home

FC Goa’s strong run, defined by key victories and defensive solidity, sets up their National Championship challenge

FC Goa have emerged as one of the standout performers in the Reliance Foundation Development League 2025-26, finishing second in Group A of the National Group Stage to book their spot in the National Championship.

FC Goa showed encouraging signs in the Zonal Group Stage, finishing second in the Goa region standings with nine points. They combined attacking intent with moments of individual brilliance, with their standout performance coming in a commanding 3-1 victory over RF Young Champs. Shik Mohammad Ismile starred in the fixture with a brace, leading the side to an impressive win and highlighting their attacking capability. Their performances in the zonal stage provided a strong platform heading into the National Group Stage.

Carrying that momentum forward, FC Goa delivered a composed campaign in the National Group Stage. Finishing second in Group A, they consistently challenged top opposition and secured crucial results to confirm their progression to the National Championship. Among their standout results were an impressive 3-1 victory over Diamond Harbour FC, showcasing their attacking efficiency, and a disciplined 2-0 win against Sreenidi Deccan FC, highlighting their defensive control and game management. Sitroy Carvalho also made a crucial impact during the stage, with the versatile defender-midfielder scoring a dramatic 90+6' equaliser against Bengaluru FC to secure a valuable point.

Defensively, FC Goa demonstrated organisation and discipline, registering four clean sheets in the National Group Stage. Their structured approach at the back allowed them to stay in control of matches and build from a solid foundation.
